How Should an MSP Price Backup for Clients?

Charge per protected unit (a mailbox, a server, a workstation) at or under a published list price your client can check. Include storage instead of passing it through by the gigabyte, and keep your vendor terms no longer than your client's, so a client who leaves takes its cost with it. Price the work as well as the storage: what you pay EnterProtect, plus the time you spend proving it works.

Use the List Price as Your Ceiling

A public list price works for you. Your client can see list. They can't see your rate. Quote at or under list and any client who checks finds you fair, while the gap between your rate and your price stays yours. EnterProtect posts its list prices in public for exactly that reason, and shows MSP rates only to MSPs it has confirmed. Every MSP gets the same rate card at the same volume.

Don't Sell Storage by the Gigabyte

Per-gigabyte storage turns every client's bill into a number that moves for reasons they can't see, and you become the one explaining it. Pool it instead. EnterProtect includes storage in every unit and pools it across all your clients, so a client heavy on data draws on the allowance every other unit brings, and retention becomes a setting instead of an upsell. Forecasting warns you before an overage line appears, and by default an overage isn't allocated to any one client. If one storage-heavy client pushes you over, you can choose to allocate it to them.

Match Your Terms to Your Clients'

The worst line on your books is a vendor contract that outlives the client it was bought for. If your vendor holds you to committed seats for three years and your client can leave after one, you carry the difference. EnterProtect is month to month, billed on what you actually protect, so a client that leaves is off your next bill. Counts close before the 1st, each client gets a statement that matches your invoice exactly, and the ConnectWise PSA sync sends quantities (prices only if you switch that on), so you can bill your clients on the 1st.

Backup Pricing Questions

Should I show my clients the vendor's list price?

You don't have to, but you can't hide it either: EnterProtect's list prices are public, and that's the point. Quote at or under list and the number your client can find backs you up. Your own rate is never on a public page, and EnterProtect has no client-facing billing anywhere.

What should a backup price cover besides the software?

Your time: monitoring, restore tests, the reports a client or their insurer asks for, and the restores themselves. With EnterProtect, every restore ends in a signed report, a client's evidence bundle takes a minute, and a client's own IT person can restore the odd file within limits you set, so the time you price in goes on the client rather than on paperwork.

What's the founding partner rate?

Join a product's waitlist before it launches and you get EnterProtect's large-MSP rate at any size, month to month. It closes the day that product launches. Your rate card follows once EnterProtect has confirmed you're an MSP.
